National Guard Facility 09/02/2010
Tha National Guard is in the process of building a massive hangar which will be able to accommodate sixteen OH-58 Helicopters and four UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters. The hangar is the third phase in the project and will hopefully be complete by the end of this year. Already completed is a maintenance facility and office complex which is used solely by the National Guard for their operations. 1 Comment Access Road! 09/02/2010
Currently, the airport has a project underway that will allow motor vehicles, golf carts, tractors, etc to access both sides of the airport property without having to cross the runway! The road will connect to the taxiway in front of the North Hangars and with the ramp next to the ASOS antenna on the south side ramp (Terminal Side). Currently, the National Guard is using the North side of the airfield for their operations. Having half of their fleet on the South side and half on the North, they are constantly crossing the runway. Also, pilots who keep their airplanes in the North hangars cross the runway to access their airplane and hangar. The access road will eliminate all traffic from having to cross the runway, providing a safer atmosphere for pilots landing and taking off. Pictures to come soon! Twin Hangars Finished!! 05/03/2009
As of about a week ago, the new hangars are complete! The taxiways have been paved, the lighting has been installed and all of it looks awesome. All that needs to be done is some landscaping (grass, etc). Airplanes have started moving in and hangar space is being taken as fast as it opens up. The workers did a fantastic job on this project. We also have our Board Chairman Wade Carr and Board member Henry Heaberlin to thank for a lot of their hard work on this project. Twin-Hangars Under Construction!1 02/14/2009
Currently, the new twin-hangars are under construction. The building is up and houses ten twin-hangars with automatic doors, all concrete floors, and plenty of room for most twin-engine aircraft. Last week, February 7-13, multiple loads of gravel were brought in to lay the foundation for the taxiways. We have our board chairman, and several other workers, to thank for donating their time to help in getting the hangars ready to move into. March is the tentative time for the project to be complete. |
